:: the younger daughter :: christmas scraps

Alison had lots of Christmas fabric and this is what we started over Thanksgiving while I was down there...
We made double sided triangle pendants with Christmas fabric on one side and a natural-colored thin canvas on the other side... They're just stitched on along the long edges, wrong side together, so we'll probably get some fraying. but who's afraid of a little fraying?

That's as far as we got, so I picked up some cotton twill tape to assemble them garland-style while this past weekend while I was at Gramma's (BEST VISIT!). Gramma wisely has a desk for writing/working at and a countertop bar for eating at, so it leaves the dining table free for sewing projects. :)
I made one garland (red/white stripes only) by folding the tape in half lengthwise with the pendants stitched in between. (See above.) The alignment of the stitching on the back side was not awesome, so on the second garland (misc Christmas colors) I just zig-zag stitched the pendants on top of the tape.
and the finished products:

this was when i was on a business trip to tulsa last week, so i got to rent a car and head to Gramma's for a day. miss this lady!
